Arazan and Evasive out of Irish 2,000 Guineas
John Oxx, trainer of 2,000 Guineas winner Sea the Stars, has announced that Arazan will not be competing in the Irish equivalent next Saturday due to health concerns.
Arazan, the Futurity Stakes winner, missed the Newmarket Guineas in favour of a tilt over the better ground at Curragh. However, the horse has since been found to have a temperature, and will be withdrawn from the Irish 2,000 Guineas as a precaution.
“He won’t be running, unfortunately, but these things happen with horses,” the trainer’s wife told reporters. “He is out of sorts and has a temperature but, hopefully, he will recover and be back among the fray soon.”
Sir Michael Stoute’s Evasive, who finished sixth in the Newmarket 2,000 Guineas, will also be absent from the Irish equivalent. Stoute had originally planned to supplement the racehorse for the Irish Guineas, however, concerns over his fitness means he’ll instead head directly to the Royal Ascot meeting.
“He was not entered in the Irish 2,000 Guineas and will not be supplemented,” Stoute is quoted as saying on racingpost.com. “We will now go to Royal Ascot.”
