2007 Irish 1000 Guineas
Finsceal Beo made history at the 2007 Irish 1000 Guineas, winning the race by a neck after also having won the 2007 English 1000 Guineas at Newmarket and earning a second position in the French equivalent, the Poule d’Essai des Pouliches. After the filly Attraction in 2004, Finsceal Beo is only the second horse to win the 1000 Guineas double since the Irish 1000 Guineas was first raced in 1922.
Trained by Dermot Weld, runner-up Dimenticata gave Finsceal Beo some stiff competition late in the race. But it wasnt enough to keep Finsceal Beo and jockey Kevin Manning from taking the victory, which was met by exuberant celebrations from owner Mick Ryan and his entourage. Aidan OBriens Peeping Fawn one of the favourites for the race took third position.
